My Very Own Tarot Deck

Ever since my then-boyps moved to Singapore, I had this thing that I do whenever I saw something that I wanted: I would call him up and describe the item, the cost and I would ask him if I should buy it. Sometimes, I would send him a picture (via MMS) and wait for his reply before deciding what to do.

tarot_01I remember seeing the Vertigo Tarot Deck set in Fully Booked in Greenbelt 5, called the then-boyps and he convinced me that I didn’t need it plus it’s expensive. Right. Somewhat disappointed, I left the store and put it out of my mind.

It wasn’t until yesterday that I remembered that occurrence. I was idly window shopping in Absolute Comics in Bugis Junction when I saw it again (placed strategically at the counter!). I immediately called the now-husband and ask if I can buy it. He says yes! (In retrospect, I think he allowed the purchase because earlier that day, he bought a new router and three fans for his new PC case. A kind of an offering perhaps? Heh.)

The set includes 78 cards, a black velvet bag for the cards and a Tarot book by Rachel Pollack (introduction written by Neil Gaiman). The cards were painted by the awesome Dave McKean. The Major Arcana of the set features some Vertigo characters like John Constantine, Morpheus and Swamp Thing. The general feel of the deck is a bit dark in my opinion. Having said that, the illustrations are dreamy and interesting at the same time. The cards are a bit big for my hands which will make shuffling a bit weird. But I don’t think this is going to pose any major problems since readings don’t really require fancy shuffling techniques as with card games.

All that is left to do now is learn how to do readings. Maybe the next time we meet, I’ll ask you to pick a card. Any card. :)

Wanted: Housemate

The husband and I are in a bit of a pickle.

Earlier today, we’ve been informed that one of our housemates has decided to move out of the condo as soon as the contract expires (which is in January). We tried bullying said housemate to stay and went as far as proposing to adjust the rates to compete with the new place. I was kinda expecting said housemate to stay but unfortunately, the peer pressure was not enough to prevent him from leaving.

So, options. First priority would be to find someone to move in the vacant room. Moving is such a hassle and we love our condo! People who have stayed with us can vouch that it’s an awesome place. Haha.

Other options involve dependencies with other friends: moving with N and family IF they decide to move out of their current flat, look for a place with B but he doesn’t have a job yet. If I had a job, we can afford a place to ourselves but seeing as I don’t have one yet (and no I don’t want to talk about it so please stop asking me how my job hunting is going), that’s not an option. BAH.

Anyway, if you know of someone looking for a room in Tampines area please let me know! The condo’s name is The Eden. It offers full facilities and amenities and is near the market, grocery and other shops. The room rate is $750 $650 (exclusive of PUB and internet) and move-in date is end of January.

Feel free to share this with friends! :D

In The Mail Today

Lookit what I got in the mail today:

stepup2

Sent by Harry Shum Jr. who plays Cable in Step Up 2 and Mike Chang in Glee (aka “The Other Asian”). Can’t wait for Step UP 3D. And yay for free stuff! :)

Wake-Up Call

I think I may have been ignoring my craft and having entirely too much fun doing nothing. I’ve become complacent and it’s high time I go back to the heart of it all and start learning again.
